Schools Design-a-Garden Competition – WINNER ANNOUNCED. 

We Have Our Schools Garden Competition Winner!

After receiving an incredible 400+ entries, we’re delighted to announce the winner of the Southport Flower Show 2026 Schools Garden Competition…
Congratulations to Molly Goldsmith from Great Sankey Primary School! 
 
Molly’s imaginative Alice in Wonderland inspired garden captured the judges’ attention with its creativity, originality and magical design.
 
The best part? Molly’s winning design will now be transformed into a real show garden by garden will be built by James Comish and Anthony Major at this year’s Southport Flower Show!
 
Molly and her family have been invited to the show on Thursday 20th August to see her wonderful design brought to life.
 
Great Sankey Primary School will also receive £250 worth of books, kindly donated by our competition sponsor, Postscript Books.
 
A huge thank you to our fantastic sponsors Merseyrail and Postscript Books for supporting this year’s competition, and a huge well done to every pupil who entered. The standard was exceptional, and choosing a winner from so many wonderful entries was no easy task.

We are delighted to announce the launch of our Schools Garden Competition at this year’s Southport Flower Show: 20th – 23rd August 2026.

This year’s competition is sponsored by Merseyrail and Postscript Books. A local landscaper will be building the winning design.

The winning school and 5 runners-up will receive Rail Travel Vouchers from Merseyrail and a bundle of books from Postscript Books.

What do we need to know?:

  • The Competition is aimed at Junior School Years 3-6.
  • We ask you to encourage the children to use their imagination and design a 6m x 6m garden on the application form attached.
  • Closing date is the 27th May 2026
  • The garden will be brought to life in our fantastic show garden section.
  • The winning garden will then be donated to a local school or charity after the show.
